Wind Sector Management

On a wind farm scale, there are interferences between the turbines. A wind turbine causes a wake behind it, with a wind speed deficit and turbulences. Wind sector management aims at protecting the wind turbine of nearby wakes and to improve their production from a global wind farm perspective.

The Wind Iris, as it sees the actual wind received by the turbine, is an ideal tool to analyze inflow turbulence across all wind sectors and improve wind sector management. This results in reduced loads on the turbines and improved power production.

Several of our customers are also using the Wind Iris to improve wake modeling tools, with the objective to start improving wind farm production, but also to optimize future wind farm layouts.
